Asset Management Challenge with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Written by Aerlytix | May 15, 2026 1:24:13 PM

Aerlytix recently partnered with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to deliver its Aviation Asset Management Challenge, an interactive learning experience designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world aviation finance.

About the Challenge

The Aviation Asset Management Challenge is a team-based, scenario-driven experience that simulates real-world aircraft pricing. The initiative brought together students from the FIN 624 Aircraft Transaction and Risk Modeling class who were tasked with evaluating a potential aircraft acquisition. Using the Aerlytix platform, participants analyzed key variables such as:

  • Lease structures and cashflows

  • Maintenance and lifecycle considerations

  • Risk and return dynamics

This hands-on approach reflects how decisions are made across the aviation leasing and finance industry today. The challenge is designed to move beyond traditional classroom learning by immersing students in practical problem solving.

Speaking about the challenge, Sundar Raghavan, Professor of Finance said,

“John and Alec demonstrated Aerlytix’s maintenance modeling software and challenged our students with a real-world pricing competition—bringing industry insight directly into the learning environment. This is a strong example of the hands-on, experiential learning that defines our programs.

I’m especially grateful to John and Alec for traveling from Dublin to share their expertise. A big thank you as well to our students in the Master’s in Aviation Finance and Master’s in Data Science programs for their engagement and participation.”

As the aviation finance sector becomes increasingly complex, there is a growing need for integrated, data-led decision-making tools. By working directly with the Aerlytix platform, students gained:

  • Exposure to tools used by aviation finance professionals

  • Insight into data-driven investment strategies

  • Experience collaborating in a high-pressure, time-bound environment

The format mirrors real industry workflows, giving participants a clearer understanding of how technology is transforming aviation finance decision-making.

The collaboration with Embry-Riddle reflects a shared commitment to developing future talent and preparing the next generation of professionals with both the theoretical foundation and the applied skills needed to succeed in the industry.
